Joshua (Josh) Paine

Joshua (Josh) Paine is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol. Josh in an international lawyer with expertise in international investment law (all aspects of investment treaties and Investor–State Dispute Settlement), some aspects of international trade law (dispute settlement, exceptions), and international dispute settlement. His research has been published in leading peer reviewed journals and several edited volumes. His latest journal article is ‘Autonomy to Set the Level of Regulatory Protection in International Investment Law’ International & Comparative Law Quarterly (2021). He serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of World Investment & Trade. At Bristol Josh teaches mainly in the areas of international investment law and international dispute settlement and supervises two doctoral students in these areas. Prior to taking up a lectureship at the University of Bristol, Josh was a Senior Research Fellow (postdoc) at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law.
